This is what I get....

So on Friday evening I was cleaning up the kitchen after dinner like the good daugther I am (mind you I had also cooked the dinner). As I was opening the fridge to put something away a jar fell out and onto my foot. Stupid me tried to move out of the way in doing so it landed on the last two toes and on the top of my left foot. I have a nice bruise, sort of purplish/blue and it is still slightly swollen. If the swelling doesn't come down by tomorrow I think I am going to have to make a trip to the Urgent Care or ER to get an xray. I am hoping that it comes down, my toes look like little sausages..oh so attractive. I really don't want a cast or anything..have you ever been to VA in July/August it is so humid and makes me feel disgusting. I couldn't imagine adding a cast to the situation.
Got some new this morning from David..his deployment has been pushed back for at least another 2wks. I'm sad but I know this is out of his/our control. So no sense in getting upset, right? He is hating the food, he said they have the same menu every single week. So I am trying to come up with ideas that I can send him just in case he gets to a breaking point. I do try and send little snacks when I send out a package, I sent some hard candy and trail mix this last time (he asked for some toothpaste and I didn't want to just send the toothpaste). But have sent granola bars (Nature Valley), nuts and beef jerky. Any other suggestions? I was thinking of some ramen noodles or the tuna fish packets (the ones that come with the mayo, relish and crackers)-at least that has some protein.

WOW!!

WOW...last time I checked I did not live in CA (and never have). This morning the metro DC area had a 3.6 earthquake. I now know why the dogs were freaking out around 5am. I on the other hand completely slept through it.

On another note I had a great day yesterday. I got to talk to David yesterday morning. We hadn't gotten to talk more than a couple min here and there because he has been working non stop for the past couple of weeks. I know its been hard for him but we are almost to the 4month mark and only 3more to go. I really hope they go by fast. Also with the temps getting up into the 140s which reaks havoc with his job (he is an electrician for the Army).
And then I had a girls night out with some great friends, we went to the Melting Pot and had a complete blast. We were there for 3hrs, unfortunately we didn't have a picture taken. The plan was to go play mini golf after dinner but because it took so long the course was closed by the time we got out of the restaurant. Oh well there is always next month.

Happy July 4th :)

Wanting to wish everyone a very happy and safe July 4th!! This is probably one of my favorite holidays. What more can you want, bbq, family/friends, games and fireworks. Unfortunately this year I have to work but I am not going to let that ruin the holiday. We are having a potluck and going to head to the roof of the garage and watch the fireworks in Vienna.
Please take a moment to remember all of those brave men and women who have made this holiday possible.
I also would like to wish my mom and dad an awesome anniversary. 29 years ago tomorrow they were married (a good idea on my mom's part now my dad cannot say that he forgot about their anniversary :)).

Happy Birthday Sweetie!!

So Monday is David's birthday, I baked some cookies, got some other snacks (he was complaining about the food), gum, drink packets and a couple of magazines and mailed them off to him. I hope the cookies are okay by the time he gets the package. His real birthday present will be here when he gets home. I am taking golf lessons and will be taking him to play golf at a local golf course, which is supposedly very nice.
Three months down and only about 3.5-4mos left. I feel bad that he is over in the "sandbox" right now, he said its only about 125 degrees right now but in another month or so it will get up to 140. But I guess its better to be there now instead of during the Holidays.

Its been a very busy month...after my birthday I left for Pensacola, FL. Well what was only supposed to be a week turned into a three week adventure. I was asked to stay for two weeks and to help train 5 of the 7 new loan officers that we hired (2 were on vacation). It was quite an experience. I am glad that I was able to do it though. Then last Saturday was my 10yr high school reunion. Its hard to believe that I have been out of high school for 10yrs already. Where does the time go?

I want to wish all of the fathers out there a very Happy Father's Day...especially my daddy and David.

Birthdays!!

Well its that time of year again I am another year older (well I will be in a couple of hours). I was not expecting anything from David as he said he had limited access to cards. I woke up to a very nice e-card this afternoon, my first birthday card :) In a way he will be here with me helping me celebrate. Unfortunately he will be gone for his birthday as well, I am still trying to put together some things to send off to him. Still not sure what I am going to send, but peanut butter cookies will def be included.
This weekend will mark 2mos of the deployment, only 5more to go-its been hard, I have been trying to keep as busy as possible. I have been going to the gym and have been feeling great. Next week will be hard, I am heading down to FL for a much needed break but I will still be able to talk to him if he has time (email and yahoo messenger).

Military Appreciation Week!!!!

Its Military Appreciation Week!! I have the utmost respect for our brave men and women who serve in our military. They make such a sacrifice so we that we can live in this fine country.
I have a hard time seeing so many people disrespecting these fine men and women, many of whom have made the ultimate sacrifice defending our freedom.
My mom found this cute poem while volunteering at the USMC Museum and have always liked it:
" We stole the eagle from the Air Force; the anchor from the Navy; the rope from the Army and on the seventh day when God rested we overran His perimeter and have been running the show ever since. USMC."

You have got to love the Marines!! Oorraahh

Please keep David and his soldiers in your thoughts and prayers...the flu is going around right now and they are all pretty miserable. Working around the clock does not help either.

Could not be better!!!!

I have been so lucky these past few weeks. I have been able to "talk" to David (Army man) almost every day. Yahoo messenger and email have been the best. I do not worry nearly as much as I thought I would. I am anxious for him to be home but I know he is doing his job and he loves it (the job not the deployment).
I do not know how it happened but he got the care package I mailed last Thursday already-he actually got it on Monday. I have no idea how that happened but am greatful.
